The Borough Council is carrying out a review of our polling districts, polling places and polling stations. This is something they are legally required to do every five years to make sure all registered electors and polling station staff have reasonable facilities to vote as far as are practicable in the circumstances. As per ‘The Representation of the People Act 1983 (sections 18A to 18E and Schedule A1)’.

The review will initially break down the Acting Returning Officer’s (ARO) current recommendations and provide details of any proposed changes. The ARO will then welcome comments from any person or bodies wishing to submit observations and representations (please note that representations will only be accepted during a specified period).  See link below for further information:

The consultation for the 2024/25 Council Tax Support Scheme is now open and can be found at www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/ctsconsultation.

Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner has launched his public consultation into the proposed budget for policing. Norfolk residents are being asked whether the PCC should increase the police precept of council tax for the coming year.

The PCC has a statutory duty to set the police budget and, with this responsibility, make the decision on how much residents of Norfolk should pay towards the policing element of their council tax.  The consultation will run until 5pm on Friday 24 November.

More information and the consultation survey can be found here:

Do you know any Norfolk residents aged 65 or over who are currently experiencing financial hardship?  Norfolk County Council operates the Norfolk Assistance Scheme (NAS) in partnership with Age UK Norfolk and Age UK Norwich to help residents aged 65+ get support and financial assistance for food, energy, water and other essentials.  If you know of anyone who could benefit from the scheme, please encourage them to apply for support. They can do so either themselves or through another party such as through Age UK or via a carer or family - online at www.norfolk.gov.uk/NAS or by calling 0333 996 8333.

As you will have seen on our Home Page we are currently trying to provide access over the Bedford River for ramblers to complete what is known locally as Footpath 7 (or 'wide skies and open views'). The bridge over the river has been dilapidated for many years and we have been trying for a very long time to replace this.  Without getting too involved with the detail it has not been a straight forward exercise with many hurdles to jump for the land owners, the Drainage Board, the Parish Council and Norfolk County Council.  We are hopeful however that things are now moving in the right direction and very soon we might be able to open up this lovely walk once more for everyone.

Update on Police Matters

The Parish Council is interested to hear from anyone who might like to join a 'Friends of Nordelph Cemetery' group to help keep the churchyard / cemetery clean and tidy e.g. clean the bench, litter pick etc.  Please contact the Clerk if you are interested.
