Welcome to our Parish Council website
Our aim is to try and provide you with as much relevant information as possible about your parish.
If there is anything you feel we have not included that you would like to see on our website please contact the Clerk to discuss. We welcome all local news and activities and are keen to promote.
Do you know any Norfolk residents aged 65 or over who are currently experiencing financial hardship? Norfolk County Council operates the Norfolk Assistance Scheme (NAS) in partnership with Age UK Norfolk and Age UK Norwich to help residents aged 65+ get support and financial assistance for food, energy, water and other essentials. If you know of anyone who could benefit from the scheme, please encourage them to apply for support. They can do so either themselves or through another party such as through Age UK or via a carer or family - online at www.norfolk.gov.uk/NAS or by calling 0333 996 8333.
As you will have seen on our Home Page we are currently trying to provide access over the Bedford River for ramblers to complete what is known locally as Footpath 7 (or 'wide skies and open views'). The bridge over the river has been dilapidated for many years and we have been trying for a very long time to replace this. Without getting too involved with the detail it has not been a straight forward exercise with many hurdles to jump for the land owners, the Drainage Board, the Parish Council and Norfolk County Council. We are hopeful however that things are now moving in the right direction and very soon we might be able to open up this lovely walk once more for everyone.
The Norfolk Police & Crime Commissioner will be hosting a 'Have your Say' session on Friday 4th November 2022, 10am to 2pm at Downham Market Library, 78 Priory Road, Downham Market PE38 9JS. For more information visit www.norfolk-pcc.gov.uk
All are welcome.
The Parish Council is applying for funding to try and install a bus shelter for the school children at Silt Road.
The telephone kiosk (owned by the Parish Council) has recently been refurbished into a library / book swap / seed swap. Thank you to Helen for doing this for the village; we hope you all enjoy!
